NOT live online training, but....

Just an interesting piece of information I'd like to share with you

today.

I'm designing an asynchronous training program based on a 2-day

classroom course. The asynchronous course consists of 4 modules which

are really just intended to be refreshers - you must attend the

workshop first.

You'd think this would be easy, wouldn't you? Just move the content

over. But, as you've probably learned when designing your own online

training - it's never simple. The first 20 min module took nearly 8

hours! The second one took nearly 5 hours! Why? Because to keep our

audience engaged and interactive we must keep the screen moving,

right? So what might be on a ppt slide in the classroom, to which we

can talk for 5 minutes... to move it online requires 3 or 4 slides.

It's an interesting experience to re-think your training from a

learner's perspective who is sitting mesmerized by his / her computer

screen.

It's also a really fun activity to approach the design of training
